Datalux announces the immediate availability of its next generation keyboard. Like the mobile data keyboard that Datalux has been offering for many years, the new TRU-Keyboard has the innovative feature of being able to be clipped to and unclipped from a vehicle mount with one hand. The new and proprietary design of the TRU-Keyboard now enables the user to reattach the keyboard to the mount with a simple push of the grab bar and provides the user with tactile confirmation that TRU-Keyboard is safely re-attached to vehicle mount.
The TRU-Keyboard was designed to work with Datalux’s TRU-Mount and the TM110 rugged tablet or Tracer fixed computer. The ergonomic advantages of the TRU-Keyboard combined with the TRU-Mount enable public safety officers to interface with the computer in a way that is efficient and comfortable. Officers do not have to twist into uncomfortable typing positions and risk a possible back strain writing a report. With the keyboard attached to the mount, the Datalux TRU-Keyboard can tilt, pivot and swing into nearly any position to accommodate typing by the driver or passenger. With the keyboard unclipped from the mount, there is complete flexibility on where to type, including the ability of inserting the keyboard into the steering wheel (with optional bracket).
The TRU-Keyboard is now offered in two versions with two different levels of protection against fluids such as coffee spills, rain or canine saliva. The standard unit has a membrane barrier below the full-travel keyswitches thus giving the unit the feel of a desktop keyboard while keeping the internal components protected from damage . The fully sealed version uses industrial grade silicone rubber to form a complete watertight seal over the top of the keyboard. It can be washed with soap and water or standard commercial disinfectants to minimize the spread of germs between users.
The keyboard is available in English or French, with a straight or coiled USB cable and, coming in Q3 2016, an integrated fingerprint reader to aid in satisfying the requirements for two-factor authentication (2FA). With the implementation of the updated FBI CJIS Security Policy, 2FA is now required for all law enforcement personnel accessing NCIC criminal justice information outside of a secure location.
Features a tough polycarbonate housing, switches rated at 10million cycles and red LED backlighting. The TRU-Keyboard is available in black. Carries a three year standard warranty.
