Datalux is excited to announce the launch of the TM110 rugged tablet for public safety. Building on its years of success with the Tracer fixed mount solution, Datalux now adds a removable product to the lineup. The TM110 was engineered to provide superior and durable functionality in vehicle deployments while still being a highly portable tablet that can be quickly removed from the vehicle.
Police officers are constantly in motion, and are increasingly in need of fast, reliable data and communications while on patrol. With many departments opting for lower-cost, fuel-efficient smaller cruisers, interior space in police vehicles is at a premium. A rugged tablet is an ideal solution for law enforcement agencies looking for a removable product that allows public safety personnel to go from their desk to their vehicle to the field. Such nimble products let an officer survey and document an incident or accident, record the witness accounts, and retrieve and share all this information without hassle.
Rugged tablets can lead to improved safety as well. For instance, officers can work more quickly when completing an accident report and spend less time on the roadside – a potentially dangerous spot. In addition, a variety of applications can greatly ease the burden of filling out forms, scanning IDs and other previously cumbersome tasks that required data entry. But, when choosing a tablet, law enforcement agencies should consider how well that particular device works with all of the applications they need to use on the job. The new TM110 rugged tablet from Datalux was conceived to meet all of these challenges and then some.
The TM110 is powered by the latest Intel Core i5 processor. It has a large, sunlight readable 11.6” screen that has over 25% more viewable area than popular 10.1” tablets, making it truly readable by the driver when mounted near the dash. The brilliant HD display is easily viewed in direct sunlight or bright vehicle interiors. Designed to MIL-STD 810G, the durable construction with reinforced chassis handles the tough environments of public safety in or outside the vehicle. Yet, at 2.7lbs, it is the lightest fully rugged tablet with an 11.6” screen on the market.
The utility of the TM110 is further enhanced by the multiple available options that add support for security and data collection functions; these include readers for barcode, RFID, smartcard and mag stripe cards. These optional add-ons help empower public safety officials to facilitate rapid response times, streamline processes such as incident reports as well as lower costs. Emergency response crews can get better and more vital information on-site and in real time.
Built-in next generation 802.11ac WiFi from Intel allows it to easily connect to access points or in-vehicle network devices. Users also can connect through USB to vehicle modems and other peripherals, and for Verizon customers, there’s an option for 4G LTE to connect to cellular networks. In addition, the unit can be configured with a GPS for mapping and automated vehicle location.
For customers currently using the Tracer fixed product and Datalux TRU-Mount, an adapter is available that enables the TM110 tablet and vehicle dock to become a drop-in replacement for the Tracer. The TRU-Mount provides stable and ergonomic mounting in standard police vehicles without restricting the passenger seat are, even in smaller vehicles. Both the Tracer and the new TM110 rugged tablet are available with Datalux’s innovative keyboard that can be singlehandedly clipped and unclipped from the vehicle mount. The keyboard features dimmable, backlit keys and a unique steering wheel mount that enables it to be inserted into the steering wheel for stable typing of reports in a parked vehicle. The vehicle dock brings out four USB ports, Gbe LAN, RS-232 COM and HDMI and comes with an option for dual RF pass-through to roof-mounted antennas.
